approaching all things fertility, pregnancy + post partum
acupuncture benefits
Acupuncture has been shown to be a safe & drug free solution for many conditions that arise during pregnancy.
Assisting with these conditions can improve quality of life, & prevent some symptoms from becoming serious enough to require medical intervention.
We support team care and happily work together with your midwife, GP, or health care provider.
Pre-conception + conception Care
Fertility Acupuncture is designed to support your fertility potential from pre-conception through to trying to conceive, & whether trying naturally or assisted through IVF. Sessions may focus on relieving stress, hormone balancing, cycle and ovulation regulation, reducing the adverse side effects from hormonal treatments, promoting optimal follicle health & ovarian response, improve egg quality, or improve sperm count, motility & morphology.
Ideal treatment length
Follicle growth takes around 90 days before an egg is released, and so to best prepare uterine lining, balance hormones, lower anxiety & give your body the best chance of producing high quality eggs, it’s preferred that weekly treatments begin 90-120 days before conception/IVF.
Sperm also takes around 90 day’s to mature & the same treatment frequency applies. Treatment dose may vary based on your diagnosis.
pregnancy support
Throughout each trimester of pregnancy, symptoms can vary wildly. Acupuncture looks to support you at all stages of pregnancy.
The types of things people seek treatments for include nausea, prevention of miscarriage, reflux, anxiety, nervous system support, headaches, back, hip and shoulder pain, swelling & oedema, optimal positioning for breech & posterior position, pre-labour preparation & start of labour.
Where relevant, we work with your health team, midwife & doula to best support you.
Ideal treatment length
First trimester we usually like to treat weekly to support you during this time of rapid change. For severe symptoms, frequency may increase.
Second trimester is often when there’s a change to take a breather, however people seek help as-needed for things including swelling, back ache, nausea, congestion, anxiety. Those with a history of miscarriage may seek us more regularly.
Third trimester tends to focus more around weekly pre-labour prep (see below).
