What is Electro acupuncture?
Electroacupuncture & motor point acupuncture uses a mild current on specific points in order to regulate unwanted symptoms. You might notice it feels similar to a dull heart-beat, some tingling, sensation, or muscle twitch, however patient’s usually report it to be comfortable during treatment.
Electroacupuncture is widely used for pain regulation & analgesia, particularly for those with chronic nociceptive pain, sensory and motor problems. It may also be helpful in reducing the requirement for post-operative analgesic drugs.
Motor point Acupuncture focuses on reseting contracted muscle & restoring joint function.
In clinic, we often use it to assist in regulating motor patterns, ROM restrictions & pain.
This type of treatment is not appropriate for those with pace-makers, and we recommend traditional acupuncture for those instead.
Acupuncture has been shown to improve blood flow & modulate pain response & may help people seeking treatments for general injury management, pain, swelling, motor dysfunction, or limited ROM.
For those undergoing rehab, Acupuncture may helping with post-op recovery pain management, & can be used to help treat adhesions where scar tissue has formed.
